Simple question. When was Flashpoint as an event of a title, announced?

Reason I ask is, I've just read through the recent Legion Of Superheroes run, and in the first issue the Time Institute is activating their machine to view the past. One person suggests the "Look at The Flashpoint and find out how it began!"

So, was Flashpoint announced before LoSH began?

iirc the first teaser appeared in #1 of the latest Flash series, so early 2010 (Flash #1 was out the month before LoSH #1).

It'll have been planned out in creative meetings well before that though so details could easily have been available for other writers to drop hints & put easter eggs in their own stories.

Then it begs the question of how long ago the retool was planned. Because it seemed to pop out of nowhere... But I keep looking at the wording in that third and fourth panel...

Thanks, Spaced!

Something that big will have been in the pipeline for ages. They opened up the whole thing to creators to produce proposals for all 52 books, not something that'd have been accomplished overnight. Probably in the legal jargon for the proposal guidelines would have been some sort of non-disclosure clause which would go toward there being virtually zero rumours before the announcements.

I suppose it explains why Jim Lee gave up on trying to finish All Star Batman & Robin The Boy Wonder. And Image Unlimited (or whatever it's called).
