Get corrective laser surgery - no way you could compete in glasses & contacts would even be dodgy as you risk them falling out mid-match.

So pretty much a person who has bad eyesight and usually wears glasses would have to get eye surgery so he doesnt have to wear glasses or contacts while fighting?

I never said they could I was just curious but now I get why there isn't anyone with glasses who is in MMA cause they either don't need them or either have gotten eye surgery to perfect there vision. So to be in MMA do you have to have some sort of martial arts background?

It'd make things easier but I suppose if you were a good enough free-form fighter you would be okay.

He has an extensive amateur wrestling background (real wrestling not WWE style) and also underwent some martial arts training before his first fight.

Are there any MMA fighters who don't have martial arts backgrounds at all?

No idea. There'll probably be some brawlers out there who are in the business, not sure how successful they are though.

So the best way to go is to have a martial arts background?

You don't need 20/20 vision to be an MMA fighter. If your near sighted im sure you could manage. I'm not sure if any fighter has gone into the cage with contacts on but i wouldn't be shocked if they did.

A lot of MMA fighters in the USA have an amatuer wrestling backround. It is a form of martial arts. But there are many different styles you can study. Im sure their have been fighters who have nothing more than some boxing experience or even nothing at all. But in todays MMA you will usually get crushed if you are not well rounded.

I would have thought so. After all, the better fighter you are the more chance you have of winning.

So doesn't it also take that you need to be fit when in MMA fighting like somewhat muscular?

Of course you have to be fit. That is one of the most important aspects in fighting. A lot of times fighters are matched up evenly but the guy who has better stamina will end up winning.
