Is Scott Pilgrim manga?

Like Ninjas & Japanese schoolgirls? Of course you do.

I'd say it was "manga style" but by definition it wouldn't be manga. "Manga" is just the Japanese word for comics.

I wouldn't consider Scott Pilgrim manga.

The art style may be a bit manga-ish but it's way too cartoony to be considered manga art. The lifestyle depicted is more American in flow rather than Japanese. Also, Scott Pilgrim, even though it is black and white, isn't read the same way and made the same way as manga.

I can see the manga tendencies, but I think i would call it comic more then anything. You read it left to right like a comic anyway, so..but its just more in manga format.

It is drawn in manga style but it more of a american comic book. To me when I hear manga I think of Japanese comic book.

It...ah....mmm....like sexuality, and gender identity, I'd rather not classify it. But if I had to, I would say nah. It's a wanna-be manga.

For me a manga needs this "manga character-style' if you know what I mean and Scott Pilgrim definitely don't have this style. But anyway, it's a great comic and a great movie too

It's a black and white, and graphically oriented.
It's more like how comics used to be, before all the superheroics.

I wouldn't call it Manga. Even though mangas are also comics. Mangas are what I would recognize as being culturally based in Japan. Koreans have Manhwa. And side-by-side they do look/feel completely different

I don't know if the writer/artist is, but the comic takes place in Canada. And most of the characters are Canadian (except Ramona, I think). And Scott's kind of a douche. Not a lot of other books portray their main characters, as such. It has a completely different 'feel' from any Manga/Manhwa/Comic I've ever read.

The writer revealed manga influence to his own writing. In one edition, he included some of the titles he liked (altough I don't recall any of them).
