new Star Wars Marvel

Post by jrtxs2001 »

Hello,

I was wondering if anyone might know where to place the newest Star Wars issue in the chronology?
After reading it a couple times, I am still not sure

I have been looking at the original Marvel as well as the Dark Horse issues

Thank you for your help!!!!

I think that all of the previous comics (so all the Dark Horse stuff) has now been excised from the continuity so those issues don't fit in with the official canon anymore, and along with the rest of the Extended Universe now exists only in the "Legends" section. I'm not sure if this applies to the Marvel comics from 1977 - 1986 as well, but time will tell

However the new Marvel Star Wars comic that debuted on January 14th this year actually fills the gap between Episode IV: A New Hope & Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back, and are part of the "new" official canon of the Star Wars universe.

Hope this helps. :)

Yup, all of the previous comics, novels & video games have been moved sideways into their own universe.

afaik the only things still in the new official continuity are the 6 movies, the Clone Wars animated series & the new Star Wars #1.

That's lame to dismiss over 20 years of history
I still will fit it in somewhere

No, none of them will be in canon this time around
Although it's unclear how much of the Dark Horse material produced between 1991 and 2014 will be reprinted, the stories will be repackaged in Marvel’s Epic Collection format — full-color paperbacks collecting around 20 single issues at a time — under the overall series title Star Wars Legends (the title created in April to specifically identify material that is not part of the newly created "official canon" of the Star Wars universe). According to Marvel svp sales and marketing David Gabriel and the
Pinoy channel network ,the new collections will “be bouncing around to different periods of Star Wars history with each Epic Collection, constructing one huge tapestry, collecting full unbroken runs of all the greatest Star Wars comics from the past 35 years.”
