Beatles suggested?

Post by S.H.I.E.L.D. »

I like the Beatles I haven't listened to many of there songs but I know I like them. But what are some of the names of some good songs of Beatles for me to check out? And idk if anyone else has a playlist on playlist.com but I search for Beatles in there and for some reason it shows The Boo Radleys instead does anyone know why it does that?

As for the Boo Radleys thing, they were fairly Beatles-inspired, as were most Brit-Pop bands. They probably just crop up because people who like the Beatles might also like the Radleys.

If you like the guitar hero/rock band type games; starting next week (I think) the Beatles Rock Band game will be out -- a great way of learning all their songs and having fun while you're at it... ;)

It's hard to give an objective list of favorites: they've done so much in just absolute number of songs out there, and have played around with so many different styles, I really don't know where to start.
That said, I prefer getting to know artists by albums, not single songs; and in that respect, three must-haves as far as I'm concerned are: Revolver, Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band and the White Album.
But then, you sat that those three are must haves, and by saying that you leave out Help!, Abbey Road, Let It Be, A Hard Day's Night, Rubber Soul, or the sort-of-compilation Hey Jude, etc.

You see, it gets complicated...

White Album and Abbey Road are my favourite Beatles albums so I always recommend those. As for songs, I particularly like Something, Across the Universe, All My Loving, Blackbird, Here Comes The Sun, Helter Skelter, Hey Jude, Yellow Submarine, Octopus's Garden, I Want You (She's So Heavy), Ob-La-Di Ob-La-Da, Maxwell's Silver Hammer, Oh! Darling, Please Mister Postman, and Two of Us.
Whew. lol

Of the endless trains of the faithless, of cities filled with the foolish,
What good amid these, O me, O life?

well i think most of their good songs have been said but you csnt really get just a single song since from rubber soul on all their albums had a theme and alot of the times a little story in them, magical mystery tour is a good example, but before the more "hippie" music just find a best of

Audacity is your friend: http://audacity.sourceforge.net/

I'd immediately recommend "Love" from the Vegas show for a Beatles newbie. It's got lot's of great bits interwoven into an interesting disco type "mega" extended mix.

I'd also recommend a viewing of "Across the Universe" - lot's of fun in a more modern and highly interpretive way. The Beatles own "A Hard Day's Night" and "Yellow Submarine" movies are good too.

"Highly interpretive" is generous. It's a trip fest with an iota of a plot hastily thought up to try and reconcile some believable connection between the random mass of songs they use. Only watch it if you want to hear new spins on classic Beatles songs, and not if you actually want to watch a real movie/musical.

Is there any chance you've already considered how empty of plot the two Beatles movies mentioned happen to be?

I love A Hard Days Night but it's hardly an epic plot.
