I'm not into politics, heck, I don't even watch news or tv...but I came late to the game so to speak, and watched some clips from the republican primary debate and HOLYSHIT!!!

RON PAUL IS THE MAN!

FUCKEN MITT ROMNEY REMINDS ME OF MY BOSS...same retarded look, same idiotic demeaner, spends 15 minutes spurring shit out of his mouth and he ends up making you dumber without saying anything...and he doesn't know shit!

BUT ITS SO UNFORTUNATE,

the media monster that streams propaganda into the public mind...wow these people are dumb shits...

your take?

I like Ron Paul,he's one of the few Republicans I actually respect.

I'm surprised someone like you took a liking to him, despite him being a rich white old man,the type of person you would usually bitch about.

see its shit like this why i totally flame you guys...clinton already served 2 terms and the president is on the democratic ballot...so even if he runs as an independent he can't serve again because of his 2 terms...unless he goes all FDR on us...

This is why I say people are stupid because of Romney...but that's not even fair to say that because its media driven...well it is because idiots are so easily manipulated by mainstream media that they'll eat up anything they hear or see...

Vladimir Putin ran for two straight terms, then let his proxy/sidekick Dmitry Medvedev run the show until his first term ended, and allowing Putin to take the wheel again for the next four/eight years, the process is likely to be repeated again in the near future.

dunno if it's legal in the US or not.

by law its 2 term limit...unless you're Bloomberg (NYC)...G.Washington also made it an unofficial precedent after his 8 years, until FDR got a third and then it became law.

contrary to popular belief, most republicans are not rich. Most republicans are lower middle class or poor.

Then, no offense, they're stupid. the GOP is pro-business, and generally pro-taxes. For a poor person to identify themselves as Republican is dimwitted as all the Republicans generally care about is wealth. I expect the main reason we're seeing so many Republicans in the south in the past few years is because there's still a lot of racism in the US and they oppose Obama mostly for the fact that he is 'black'.

Generally speaking, I despise politics. The two-party system is majorly flawed. It doesn't allow much of a chance for any other than Democrats or Republicans to hold office.

To be honest, I have some pretty different views in regarding politics. I believe that we should have a sort of Socialist existence. We have the means that no one should go without. Money is just numbers and paper anymore. There's no reason that anybody should be homeless or jobless.

Questions from a non-american:
Republicans are all neo-liberal?
Ron Paul is a neo-liberal? I've seen only some short clips with him saying some very right things.

Why there are only 2 parties? This is something I never understood.

Republicans are generally known as Conservative with some neoliberal economic beliefs.

Ron Paul believes in smaller government, which basically puts him at odds with most Republicans. He's probably only a Republican because if he were an Independent, he would never have been elected.

The two-party system is pretty much how it's been here. Smaller parties pop up and make some noise here and there, but it always comes back to Democrats and Republicans..

Here's what wiki has to say on the two-party system:
Quote:
The main reason for America's majoritarian character is the electoral system for Congress. Members of Congress are elected in single-member districts according to the "first-past-the-post" (FPTP) principle, meaning that the candidate with the plurality of votes is the winner of the congressional seat. The losing party or parties win no representation at all. The first-past-the-post election tends to produce a small number of major parties, perhaps just two, a principle known in political science as Duverger's Law. Smaller parties are trampled in first-past-the-post elections.

Had some time and checked his views. He is a neo-liberal. Don't know if it's good or bad for you though.

Btw, the greek news media, say that Romney is ahead of Obama

I don't think Romney is the right choice, but unfortunately is does look like a good portion of the US is getting behind him. I guess the debate helped swing people his way. I'm just not interested in having a president that doesn't begin to know the first thing about real life, real work. I can't believe people expect this country to be doing spectacular in just 4 short years after Bush's 8 years of running it into the ground. I seriously think a good portion of people back Romney just because Obama is 'black'. As I said in an earlier post, racism is still pretty prominent here.

this could be a cool topic, especially now. requesting it be renamed to american politics or something else more relevent as ron paul talk is crazy late about now.

regarding impulse's comment about certain people relating to the GOP who shouldnt, its more about getting behind non political functions and allowing that to dictate their vote. for instance, voting republican due to not supporting abortion. me, i could give a crap about abortion as it will not help anything regarding a direction of a country other then getting people too strongly behind it one way or another to argue.
