Wow, it's trip back in time for the 100th issue - in terms of the amount of variant covers for it anyway!

That's a lot of variant covers...

Roll on #100 and let's see what new shit-storm Kirkman has in store for the survivors next.

8 covers + chromium edition? Overkill, in my opinion...

I have read every issue of TWD and certainly consider myself among the more hardcore of fans but did anyone else feel slightly underwhelmed by #100? I was genuinely surprised when
Spoiler: show
Glenn was killed
but I couldn't help but feel
Spoiler: show
somebody was just being killed once again for the sake of it
. Not sure. Was just curious as to whether or not I was the only one!

Spoiler: show
I must admit that I was excited by the new antagonist who looks like he will be in it for the long haul!

It'll be cool to hear what people think!

Fuck, it was harsh. Grotesque.
But maybe it just reaffirms that Kirkman can and will do anything he wants. Nothing is sacred or off-limits. Just a timely reminder that in Walking Dead everything is up for grabs, shake any people that may have fallen into a sense of comfort with certain things -
Spoiler: show
such as long-term popular characters surviving throughout.

Was it done for the sake of doing it? Probably, yes. But at the same time I was genuinely shocked, you said you were surprised, and so it had an effect on us, the audience, and reminds us how much of a c*nt Kirkman can be. Plus trigger/set-up for the next storylines etc. It will be good to see how things progress in regard to this "something to fear". And what else was likely to happen in a landmark issue like #100? May have been the expected thing but it nevertheless had an impact on us.

I already did....I cant help be reminded of Tarantino's Inglourious Basterds scene with the bat... I think he just "improved" on it with barbed wire...coz...well...that's the only way i guess he can brutally murder
Spoiler: show
Rick...oops!!!... Im kidding! ^_^

Nope, I felt the same way. Personally thought the issue was terrible. An oversized issue and all that happend was the overblown introduction of a "bad ass" villain and a relatively pointless death (the second in this story arc) just to underline how "bad ass" he is. All the rambling fuck filled exposition was a real pain to read too. Never thought I'd say this but things had better shape up fast by the end of this arc or I can see me dropping the book.

Looks like variant covers have a lot to answer for...

Image Comics press release wrote:
Robert Kirkman’s Eisner Award-winning THE WALKING DEAD comic series for Image Comics/Skybound reached its milestone 100th issue and instantly sold out of its 383,612 initial orders on July 11th, the same day it was released, effectively becoming the best-selling comic book in initial orders for any publisher since 1997, when Image Comics/Top Cow’s The Darkness #11 was released. THE WALKING DEAD, created and written by Kirkman with art by Charlie Adlard, featuring 13 variant covers for the 100th issue — all sold out — has been the talk of San Diego Comic-Con with a series of events celebrating its release. Kirkman is a partner in Image Comics, the first person invited to join the comic book industry’s premier publisher of creator-owned comics since its inception twenty years ago.

“This is a remarkable achievement,” said Image Comics Publisher Eric Stephenson. “It’s extremely uncommon, if not flat-out rare, for a comic book to see a sustained increase in sales following its first issue, but The Walking Dead steadily climbed up and up since its launch in 2003, and we couldn’t be more proud of Robert, Charlie and the whole Walking Dead team.”

Hi Guys

First post here :)

I was a collector many years ago and have never stopped loving my Sci-Fi & Fantasy TV shows.

I have loved the Walking Dead TV show and was looking at getting the comics and having a read of them.

I havent been in a comic shop for years but will be heading to my 'local' one in Leeds this weekend seeing if I can get some back issues :)

Just thought i would say hi anyways :)

TWD got me into comics. I always thought they were glossy brain candy for kids. Boy was I wrong. I collect any comic that has TWD in it. the monthly, the weeklys, the survivor guides, all the variants i can get my hands on. Missed 2 varients of the 100th issue. one being 75 dollars the other being almost impossible to get.

I was so shocked and sad to see that happen. One of my favourites in the series.

There are more then 8 issues of 100. There is 16 or 17 I think. One of them have not been released yet. it is a hero initiative cover. I can name them if you guys need to know them. Cost me a fortune to get all but the one that is not out yet.
