I want to get into current Superman and World of New Krypton, but I don't want to have to read 50 comics to do it. Any suggestions?

I really like Sandman, and as I've just recently started to read comics, I'd like to ask if there is anything like this series? You know, more complex and sophisticated)

Grant Morrison's Arkham Asylum would be worth a try if you haven't read it already. batman-arkham-asylum-t884.html

What the Funk!??...Interesting....Image Grant Morrison's Arkham Asylum ey?
Not, All-Star Superman, Not We3....heck, NOT even your favorite Seaguy? Image (your very very first recommendation to me Funk!)

Well...dunno...but for "virgin" readers who want something "complex and sophisticated", here's my short list: (There's no continuity necessary or knowledge of characters, and current...and they're all good for one sitting)

The Alcoholic by Jonathan Ames (it's....complex and "soap"histicated)
Pride of Baghdad by Brian K Vaughan (you can compare it with Morrison's We3)
Batman: War on Crime by Alex Ross (if you really want a mainstream character)

....The Ultimates by Mark Millar...heck, anything that has Ultimate in the title.

Finally, if you want longer series...with strong female characters click my sig below!

Except Ultimatum. Everyone will be off for the better if they skip that one

She wanted stuff like Sandman... All Star Superman is nothing like that and neither is the other two. Arkham Asylum is a very similar style of story so that's a much better recommendation.

Other comics by Neil Gaiman include two Death miniseries: the High Cost of Living and the Time of Your Life (which I would expect to find in the archives, but they' don't seem to be in the index) and the prestige format four-parter Books of Magic.
https://comickingdom.co.uk/books-of-magi ... t2055.html

Gaiman worked with Sandman cover artist Dave McKean on Black Orchid (I don't see that one here, either) and Hellblazer #27. They also collaborated on various graphic novels, including Violent Cases, Signal to Noise, and Mr Punch, and McKean wrote and drew an excellent series called Cages, published by Tundra.
hellblazer-t555.html

The Dreaming (again not in the index) and Lucifer continued some of Sandman's concepts and characters, and there were numerous other spinoffs in miniseries.
lucifer-2000-2006-t1193.html

Sandman Mystery Theatre was a Vertigo crime series featuring comics' original Sandman.
https://comickingdom.co.uk/sandman-myste ... t2088.html

I would also recommend Swamp Thing vol2 #20-88, by Alan Moore, Steve Bissette, John Totleben and Rick Veitch, which kicked off DC's boom in sophisticated horror and led to the creation of the Vertigo imprint. Matthew the Raven from Sandman was a supporting character in Swamp Thing in his former life.
https://comickingdom.co.uk/swamp-thing-v ... t1501.html

Other major Vertigo series to consider trying include Shade the Changing Man by Peter Milligan, the Invisibles by Grant Morrison, and Fables by Bill Willingham

the-invisibles-by-grant-morrison-t49.html

There's a another thread with Vertigo recommendations here:
vertigo-recommended-reads-t620.html

And if you want more info on any of this stuff, there's always Wikipedia:

Think quite a bit of Ultimate Fantastic Four and X-Men titles were relatively poor at times too.

Death: High Cost of Living is in a bulk available at first-taste-t2635.html. Death: Time of Your Life was not in the archives so I will be adding both and putting in the A-Z.

Also adding Black Orchid & The Dreaming

I'd like to ask for some Marvel recommendations. I've read House of M, Messiah Complex, Immortal Iron Fist, Thanos's Infinity Glove saga. Current stuff, Cable and X-Force, but I haven't been digging on X-Force in a long while though. Oh, I just got done with reading Planet Hulk. Really enjoyed that, but I think I need a break from the big green guy. I've been kinda thinking about Realm of Kings, Inhumans, cause I don't really know anything about them except for Black Bolts powers. Also I've wondered much about that Onslaught character. Any recommendations with that? And is Realm of Kings ok to just jump into?
