Well we got off to a winning start but mainly due to Scotland making so many mistakes. Play like that again too often & it's not gonna be a good tournament for England.

Blah........ Ireland lost against Wales.

To be fair, we deserved to loose the game, but to loose in the last minute is heart breaking. Not looking forward to watching the game this saturday against the French.

2 wins out of 2, suppose I shouldn't be complaining.

Would have liked to have seen the match but didn't - thank you crappy Freeview+ box!!! Very poor first half according to reports but everything seems to have clicked in the second half. Just have to hope they can hold on to that form for the Wales match.

It was a tense game. Two tries in quick succession at the end of the first half and looked like the game was over for England. Whatever Lancaster said in the changing room at half time seemed to do the trick because you could see a difference in the way they were playing - shifting through the gears quicker, as it were.

Hodgson scoring a second try from a change-down in as many games is going to earn him something of a reputation. Although in the post-game interview he said it was luck as much as anything else.

Shame Youngs seems to be struggling to shine at the moment. As much of a Tigers fan I am I'll admit that our lad wasn't performing well enough; Dickson brought all sorts of energy into the squad that they needed to get into the game properly.

Also worried, from a club level standpoint, about Castrogiovanni taking what looked like a rib-breaking knock. He's a solid tighthead prop and does wonders for Tigers, so I hope it isn't anything too serious.

Still, as you said Spaced, it was another win. Although to be fair both Scotland and Italy are considered the weaker of the 6 Nations' teams and England had to scrap to get both victories. Wales are a very dynamic and creative team, so I reckon England may come a cropper against them.

For the Irish or French fans it looks like the match between these two has been moved to Sunday 4th March.

I was right. England came a cropper against Wales.
I was surprised at how close it was for the most - yes, the first 20 minutes England were still asleep but they certainly came steaming back in the rest of that first half - and they kept toe-to-toe for the most part. Shame that Strettle's final try wasn't awarded; Welsh will say he was held up, English will say he got it down. It was a good game.

France v England - superb match. And the correct result. Was a bit of a nail biter at the end though. With the amount of penalties England had been giving away throughout I thought they were going to throw it away.

Big day tomorrow!

Wales are looking good for the Grand Slam and taking the tournament, just got to see France off. At least they'll be playing at the Millennium Stadium; I was there two years ago for the same 6 Nations game (Wales v France at Millennium Stadium) and that was a loss for Wales.

And the English have to take on the Irish. On St. Patrick's Day.
At least they're playing at Twickenham.

As if I wasn't going to be drunk enough, having a full day of rugby to watch too is verging on just too much.

Well then - 2nd place, 4-1 record, only loss to a late try to the eventual winners, can't say too many people would have predicted that for England at the start.

They started off slow but have gotten better with every game. That was a bit of a destruction of Ireland in today's second half. Lancaster HAS to get the job full time now.

Yeah, Stuart Lancaster has done well as the interim coach and I don't see why he wouldn't be offered the position officially. A strong game yesterday against the Irish, it was an impressive second half.
Not impressed by Dickson's game at scrum-half, he takes ages before doing anything with the ball and slows everything down ridiculously. Ben Youngs hadn't shown much at the start of the tournament but yesterday he came on and really injected the boost in the second half that saw the tries and dominance of the game. Terrible to see that ball pop from Tom Croft's hands when they looked all but guaranteed a try; I suppose it was endemic to the game, so many unforced handling errors throughout likely from the wet conditions.
Overall, a cracking finish to the tournament and a big, impressive win for England.

Hat off to the Welsh for the Grand Slam. They've shown some class rugby throughout and really put the French in their place yesterday.
And the wooden spoon for Scotland. Bet the Italians are almost as chuffed at not getting that as the Welsh were at winning the tournament.
