Sorry for the expletive but this was a pretty intense film, probably not one I should have take the squeamish Mrs to see. A man and his boy survive the apocalypse and travel south through a country illed with gangs, cannibals, rapists and murderers; much more horrifying than the usual post-apocalyptic zombie fare.

The filming and production is absolutely jaw dropping. The scale of destruction is all encompassing, the ash-covered wastelands look incredible, and the washed out colours of the film add to the obvious thoughts of gloom.

Great performances put in by the boy and especially by Viggo. The only thing that bothered me was the ending; after such a powerful film it seemed a little weak, although it is apparently faithful to the ending used in the book.

Oh, and did I mention it was fairly gruesome?

I give it 3.5 out of 5 Cactuars.

Jesus Christ I'm not scared of dying, I'm a little bit scared of what comes after.

I loved the movie, it was a beautiful masterpiece.
They even make a tree falling scene beautiful... but it's just gruesome on how they portray human behavior if this stuff ever happen.

I really felt bad for that black guy in the end, and this movie is definitely in my top 10 of 2009.

… We live in a world where John Lennon was murdered, yet Barry Manilow continues to put out fu*king albums. God-dammit! If you're gonna kill somebody, have some fu*king taste.

I left in love, in laughter, and in truth and wherever truth, love and laughter abide, I am there in spirit.
