I love trying out new books and was wondering if there were any new/ original comics that have come out recently? Some of my faves are Saga, Walking Dead, & Tarot to name a few.

A few recent (last 6 months or so) books that I think are worthy of a look would be:

Zero
Collider / FBP
Velvet
Buzzkill
Lazarus
Dream Thief
Coffin Hill
Ghosted
Day Men
Bloodhound: Crowbar Medicine
Sheltered
Hit

I would second FBP. Some others I have been more then happy with this last six months:

Legenderry (only one issue out so far but seems quite good)
Atomic Robo and the Savage Sword of Dr. Dinosaur (due in trade soon)
Fables and/or Fairest
Astro City
And of course Ghostbusters and TMNT.

Pathfinder and Supurbia are on hiatus but if you spot a trade of them they would be worth it.

The rest of the stuff I get into is heavy with Superheroes which I notice you did not include any in your "likes".

Also, I would not be afraid to jump into a series just because of a high issue number. I got back into Fables by buying a few issues and asking questions right here on a thread similar to this one. And I am so glad I did.

I love Superhero books as well. I have always been a DC Whore. I think I read about 80% of the DC books. I do like some of the Marvel stuff as well like Spider-man, All New X-Men, Uncanny, and my fave was Avengers Arena (although I don't think I liked how it ended). I really enjoyed the first few issues of TMNT but my old "comic guy" (he was an idiot) never ordered enough of anything he didn't think was worthy. I will need to track them down now.

That's a bummer because this current TMNT run is right up there with the original as far as great, adventurous story-telling.

TMNT is so amazing, I look forward so much to it that it tends to be the first of my reads each week, Saga is just beautiful and a wonderful story, sometimes not as much dialog but it's very action packed, and even the slower issues let the art tell the story, and the art Fiona is amazing. My most current favorite is Velvet from Ed Brubaker and Steve Epting. I do enjoy the x files too, they have a neat mini going called classified, this upcoming month is with the ghostbusters in a few issues they tackle the ninja turtles too. I know you mentioned Saga I just always feel the need to praise it.

What is up with that X-Files thing? I saw that on the Ghostbusters but didn't grab it.

Well, if you like superheroes and want to try some of the indie comics see if you can pick up Black Beetle (from Dark Horse). The first series ran for four issues, might be out in trade. The second one is due out soon. It is more of a crime noir/superhero mix like old school Batman or something.
