Critter volume 1 is a full-color 136 page trade paperback with Tom Hutchison writing and Fico Ossio doing the artwork. It is very well produced (slick pages with eye-popping colors), something you might expect from a Big 2 trade.

Tom Hutchison spins a tale of a young lady who is just getting started in the super-heroine business. She has inherited her super powers from her mother who was unknown to her a big time super-heroine back in the day. Upon discovering her mother's secret she travels to the big city to train under more experienced super-heroes. She meets new friends and enemies along the way.
I would describe this book in one word as "fun"! It takes several elements of the super hero genre and presents them in a timeless yet fresh way. The artwork is reminisce of Michael Turner's work in the 90s. This book would make a great read for people who love the super-hero stuff yet still appreciate new characters. Especially the classic "rookie hero" stories. At times raw, but always enthusiastic. Three and a half stars, check it out.
