BBC News wrote:
At least 14 people have been killed in a shooting at a Batman film premiere in the US city of Denver, police say.

About 50 people have been injured in the incident at the cinema complex in the suburb of Aurora.

Witnesses say a gunman wearing a gas mask opened fire during a midnight showing of The Dark Knight Rises.

A man was arrested in a car park nearby in possession of a rifle and hand-gun. He told police that explosives were stored at his home.

Police chief Dan Oates told reporters that an apartment block in the north of Aurora had been evacuated as a consequence of that information.

An eyewitness said the man was dressed all in black wearing a riot helmet, bullet proof vest and goggles

More weapons may have been left in the cinema, he said.

"Witnesses tell us he released some sort of canister. They heard a hissing sound and some gas emerged and the gunman opened fire," the police chief said.

"The shooting apparently went on for some time," he said.

Ten people were killed at the cinema and four others died later at hospital of their wounds, he said.

The FBI, which is working with the police, say there is no terrorism link so far in their investigations, ABC reports.

Many ambulances are at the scene and the Swedish Medical Center, not the area's main hospital, told the BBC it had received several gunshot victims and expected more.

A witness told 9News that during a shooting scene in the film he heard loud bangs and a lot of smoke and initially thought they were live special effects put on by the cinema.

Projectiles came through the wall from the neighbouring theatre screening, the witness said.

CNN quoted one witness saying: "A guy slowly making his way up the stairs and firing - picking random people."

That is dreadful, of course at some point the press will find a way to spin it so that the shooter was somehow emulating the violence in the movie!

no terrorism link ? you mean the shooter wasn't there to terrorize people ?

if he's no terrorist by FBI standards, does it mean he was doing it for "no reason" ?

*facepalm*

Its just a tragedy that fans of Batman going to see the theater thinking its a regular day and some are terrorized. And btw if they think he is emulating the violence in the film then there was already something wrong with him before he saw this film.

Well in a report I read he was apparently dressed similar to Bane but so what?

Mark Chapman killed Lennon because of The Catcher in the Rye so he says.
Brevik killed people because of politics.

Lunatics will decide on some such media in the end when they commit monstrous acts. This idiot was just waiting for his opening.

And again this is what happens when civilians who only have to wait 7 days with out an extensive background check and in my opinion psychological profiling get access to insane armaments.

No matter how he was dressed in the end he most likely had history of mental illness before this film came out which should have been looked at before. Cause any sane person would take a film for exactly what it is just a film not anything to emulate.

 Jeez...I thought I read..."Arvada", Colorado.
Several years ago, it also became tense when we watched Mel Gibson's Passion of Christ

I may have to make a few phone calls...later.

I have to admit that from the beginning I felt he needed to get pegged for terrorism. Send him to Guit'mo and show him how very not fun it is to shoot up a theatre full of movie patrons. <_<
