So I am currently gathering all my 'first appearances' of my favorite characters. Then I'm going to ship them off to be graded. I still have a few comics I'd like to have. One of which is Gambit. What counts as the true first appearance or rater more valuable. First brief appearance or first full appearance?

The first full appearance (character takes an active role in the issue) are usually valued a lot higher, than say,the first actual appearance (character plans on taking an active role in another issue)

here's a good example: Wolverine makes a first actual appearance in the final pages of The Incredible Hulk #180 ($150 Mint) but makes a first full appearance in The Incredible Hulk #181 ($20,75 Mint)

as for Gambit:
Actual: Uncanny X-Men Annual #14 ($26 Mint)
Full: Uncanny X-Men #266 ($450 Mint)
