Whats your fav. live performance of a band or singer and why is it your fav? If you can find a video of it that would be good and help us better understand why its your fav.

A couple of mine are:

Metallica: Download 2006
(mainly because of the Master of Puppets album being played in it's entirety for the 20th anniversary)

Nirvana: Reading 1992
(no specific reason other than they seemed to be really on top form for that gig & turned in a blinding performance)

good shout, that man. absolute quality!

couple that spring to mind for m'self:

The Prodigy - Phoenix '96

fucking INTENSE AS.

when Gizz Butt's SG comes screaming in @ 1:25...

blinding stuff.

Garbage - Brixton Academy '05

easily one of the best gigs I've ever been to. the whole band were on absolute top form that night.

still hoping to find a decent quality bootleg sometime, ever.

UPDATED:

The Wildhearts - Akasaka Blitz '97

ah, jesus.

hindsight's a hell of a drug...

I have not been to too many concerts but I would have to say the best concerts i went to according to performance would have to be Iron Maiden Toronto 2010 or Dream Theater Toronto 2005 (First concert ever).

Best gigs for me so far have been the Taste of Chaos tour 2010 which had Halestorm, Buckcherry, Papa Roach and Disturbed on it. Mind you Buckcherry where shit <_<
Also saw Stone Sour and Avenged Sevenfold in 2010 who where amazing.
My absolute highlight though is Download 2008 where I saw Ace Frehely, The Wildhearts, Cavalera Conspiracy, Apocalyptica, Motorhead, Judas Priest and The Offspring to name but a few, but the absolute best thing that came out of the trip was seeing KISS live *swoon* ^_^

Might possibly be the most moving performance I've ever seen, and this was just from on a screen miles away ... I couldn't even imagine the experience if I were there in person. Just amazing. Pure art.

Answer -
That you are here. That life exists, and identity.

That the powerful play goes on, and you may contribute a verse.

Jeff Mangum - Live at Jittery Joe's

Most of you will probably hate that but I love the whole gig dearly.

Also, for me, Less Than Jake at Leeds Festival in 2002 was one of my favourite all-time experiences.

I have to agree with CactusFunk - Live at Jittery Joe's is one of the great performances in music history. I'm also a ridiculously crazy fan of any time Kevin Devine does a live show - the guy just has an incredibly intimate stage presence.

I mean its just him sitting with a guitar, but he adds a fantastic spirit to his live stuff.

Iron Maiden @ SECC Glasgow, Scotland 2003

Why? It blew me away, first time I went to a show that really put allot into the stage presence, performance and props and stuff. The and belting your lungs out to ever Maiden classic for the whole gig... ahhh man memories :)

I've been to maybe seventy or eighty concerts in my time, and the absolute best concerts I've ever attended were performed by Rammstein.

I have had the fortune to see live four times, in 2002, 2004, 2010 and 2012.
Those four concerts are in all in the top 5 lists of concerts I've ever attended.

The embedded video is "Mein Teil" from the 2004/2005 tour.
