I've been looking for this kind of application for a long time. I want to create a personal database of super-heroes, like the other databases created by using wikia. But the thing is, I'm going to use it offline. It's just like collectorz comic book application, but it's about characters instead. So would someone help me please?

I know there are lots of online databases. Like

http://dc.wikia.com/wiki/Main_Page

What I want to do is keep the information in my computer by a database application.

Well, it doesn't have to be a comic book database creator, because it looks like there isn't one. All I need is a simple database application just like Collectorz Comic Collector. I've been looking for something like this for three years :-) , well thanks for your help anyway, maybe I will find it another day.

I used to use a program called Alpha it let me build my own Database. Why don't you use one like MS Access?

I got a couple links for ya. They are mostly helpful to you if you are online, but you can still use some of it offline:

First, there is a Golden Age Comic Index. It has all the 1950s and earlier comics, indexed by who appeared in them (and even how many pages they appeared in)

Code:
http://www.twomorrows.com/alterego/media/Golden%20Age%20Index.pdf

That one is in PDF. If you have Excel (I don't) and like DC (I do) here is a wonderful site that has a master list of published issues in Excel. I don't know how useful that is since I don't have Excel but I have been dying to look at it.

Code:
http://www.dcindexes.com/database/index.php

As far as offline sources go, that's all I can tell you. I have this:
Code:
http://www.amazon.com/Comic-Book-Encyclopedia-Ultimate-Characters/dp/0060538163

And read it all the time. I also use the DC and Marvel encyclopedias 2004 editions. (I want the new ones but dangit they're expensive)

For easy to use database try FileMaker Pro (Mac Only) I made a DVD database using FileMaker and it was pretty easy. I made by own graphics and backgrounds as well. If you don't have the $$ for FileMaker you should try Bento. Bento is made by the same people as FileMaker but it is for beginners and has a really easy to use interface.

Good luck

I used to use Alpha as well. You can probably pick it up cheaply. For a Microsoft tool try MS Access that is also easy to use.
