This is a graphic novel that originally appeared as a mini-series from Oni Press. Written by perennial fav Paul Dini and drawn by award-winning J.Bone. It is a B&W, 123 pages paperback.

The story follows a 16-year-old Texan cowgirl named Ida Red who grew up in Mutant, a small town radiated into uniqueness by a meteor/satellite crashing into the town's nuclear power plant. The townsfolk are all now mutants, of the anthropomorphic animal variety. Ida is a human appearing girl with amazing energy powers raised by a Bear/wisewoman and friends with an Armadillo farmer. Together they must solve the mystery of disappearing townsfolk and in true Texas fashion fight it out on a train using fists and six-shooters against scorpion men, coyote bandits, and even a giant rattlesnake.

Destined to be a Pixar movie someday. Five stars.
