Is issue one any good ? I tried reading it, but couldn't cause of the horrible Land art. I just can't stand his tracing... Ooops, sorry, art.

I hated the artwork in this. Honestly there is one page every panel has Stark with that same s**t-eating grin on his face

I couldn't even finish issue two, the artwork just puts me off.

I agree Steel, this Marvel Now art looks too cartoonish if that makes sense. Bring back that gritty, dark, detailed art from the Civil War timeline.

Decided that I'd try Iron-Man out for size. Anyone got any tips as where to start?

I'm new to the Iron Man series myself, but there are 2 new Iron Man series that just started. Iron Man as part of Marvel Now and Ultimate Iron Man. I think both have just launched its second issue.

Other than that, i hear that Matt Fractions run, that just finished, its supposed to be fantastic.

Fraction's run had its share of ups and downs but overall was very solid, very enjoyable

Oh dear, looks like IM's new armour could well be a candidate for the worst of all time (yes, even worse than the "nose").

Can someone tell me how we are back to using factory parts for the suit?

Wasnt the point of the Fraction armour, that he would never need such stuff again? That he can adapt to every situation and enemy?

They made SUCH a big deal out of that armour at the time. I even remember Reed talking to Stark how the armour is giving him new abilities even in his normal form and that it is the "next step". I even remember the discussion here as the new armour pictures were posted by Spaced.

Or WHY can the writers completally ignore Stark going into Space in the last Volume or that he isnt that ladykiller OR rich anymore ?

short answer: Marvel

long answer: it seems most writers don't know how to write "can-do-almost-anything,can-beat-almost-anyone" heroes like Doctor Strange,Hulk and Silver Surfer anymore,so they either depower them or ignore them most of the time, but since Iron Man is Marvel's poster boy now-a-days,they can only do the former by making him only as powerful as his movie counterpart

I think that's one of the inherent problems of Iron Man in the 21st century. Modular armor in the 90's, like when the Hulkbuster armor first came out, stuff he added on to his "normal" armor to enhance it, was so far ahead for what he could do back then. But for today's era, when we all have essentially computers in our pockets WHAT could the tech savant of Marvel do to be "ahead of his time?"

answer? Not much. Technology has advanced at such a rate that after Extremis put the armor inside the man, About the only thing I can think of for Tony to do would be digitize his consciousness (already done that) and keep his body in a central location and just transfer his consciousness from armor to armor as needed. And, frankly, as a reader that is a dumb idea. Hell, I'd be MUCH more interested in him contracting cancer or something from the changes he's made to his body and that his body rejects any technology implanted so that he MUST use factory machine produced armors.
