If I wanna start buying Iron Man where should I start?

Jeepers.. Did u even read the thread? :) Ric33r suggested just 5-6 posts above you that Invincible Iron Man #1 would be a good place to start... It ran for issues #1-33 then jumped to #500 for its milestone and continued from there... :) It has its ups and downs.. If you're wanting to read the supposed source for IM 3, then pick up Extremis..

Technically yes I am interested in reading Iron Man because of the upcoming film but not to read the story its based on. I just always been interested in reading Iron Man just don't have the comic book budget to do so because its hard to get rid of the comic books I already buy to buy Iron Man. But I think I am now able to do so.

You could just start with the new #1 that's coming out next month & pick up some of the classic storylines in trade paperback when you can afford them?

Well, if i'm reading that right then greg Land is the artist, so be prepared for every woman to have the exact same face, with very few variations. I'm not even kidding. I think I like Land more than a lot of people (although "like" is probably too strong a term) but he is pretty lazy at best, and has been known to copy stuff (especially his own work) a lot.

Kieron Gillen is a decent writer. Haven't read any of his recent Marvel stuff but he's gained plenty of fans for his work on Thor, Uncanny X-Men & Journey into Mystery.

Greg Land is godawful imho but apparently a lot of people still like his art as the books he is on keep selling.

I thought the first issue was awful rehash off old story line of someones tech falling in the wrong hands, it was better when Fraction did it the first time. I also think that its mighty convenient that they went with an Extremities plot in light of Iron Man 3 using that this summer. Lands art was bad, it looked like Tony had a Cheshire grin on every page, he did do a few good shots of the armor though.

The issue, while alright writing wise, did have the normal Land artwork issues. My major complaint is where exactly does this story fit into continuity? Invincible Iron Man ended with him jetpacking to space, and they said he had pretty much been holed up in his loft until he decided to leave, so this arc until issue 6 of the new series kinda makes no sense. Especially in the sense of new armors.

Didnt care for it. Seems to repeat old storys. Also doesnt explain shit why Stark is again the rich playboy OR why he is at earth.

Probably again the case, that writers dont care about their characters.
