I thought we should have a thread for Invincible and it's ongoing arc.

Issue #74: So currently Mark has recovered from his bout with Conquest. Mark, Nolan and Oliver travel to the Coalition, only to find out that the Coalition has been betrayed. Talescria is under battle, but Viltrumite Grand Regent Thragg has to recede because Nolan And Mark turn the tables on them. Mark and Oliver deal plenty of damage to the Viltrumite ship.

Oh, and Mark finally killed Conquest.

There has been a ton of buildup leading up to this Viltrumite War. Kirkman never fails to please with me but I really hope it lives up to the hype that has been building for this pretty much since the first story arc in the book

True. It's actually pissing me off. I think this has been building up for the past 20 issues or so. Or maybe I'm just exaggerating. But you get my point. They only release an issue a month, and I hate waiting so long when they're just going to stretch the story out even more.

I've been with the book since issue 50. It's one of my favorite comic series of all time as well. I'm 29 and have been reading comics since the age of five! I have to admit the last issue kind of pissed me off a bit. I wasn't hoping for Oliver to die, but after this take-back/fake-out (and the one with Eve) I'm beginning to wonder if Kirkman might be playing it safe? I don't think he'd do this on The Walking dead after all. To be honest, I lost interest in the "viltrimite war" around the time Conquest was killed and Thadd proved to me more powerful. I mean c'mon really? Kirkman IS a master story teller, but he seams to be slipping just a bit lately.

P.s.
When is Cecil going to get FIRED for his fuck up with Conquest? That's one of the thing that bothers me about Conquest's death. I would have liked to see him Cecil directly face the consequences of his actions. We can all guess that Mark will probably go all "batman" on him again, but we already saw how that played out last time...

I'm ready for the Viltrumite War to be done with and for Mark to get back to earth...it may sound stupid to all of you action lovers out there but one of the highlights of the series for me has always been his relationship with Eve and I want to see where her pregnancy is going

I completely agree! Kirkman's biggest strength lies in his ability to capture realistic emotional interactions. "baby drama" is enough but how they hell are they gonna handle "Super baby drama!" A short while ago I was re-reading all the issues (to gear up for 75) and the following thought occurred to me; What if Eve's baby is what made her go all "phoenix force" during the Conquest battle? Do you think Eve will survive giving birth (for all intents and purposes) to a god?
Will Nolan attempt to reintegrate into Earth culture to stay close to his boys? That and I really want to see Dinosaurious fight Octo-Boss :D

Whoa nelly. Issue 77 is a doozy. Whether you like the conclusion of the viltrumite war or not, Dazed838 said it best that Tech jacket has the best in entire issue. I won't spoil it for those who have not read it.

:yum:

Oh man, that'd be so rad. As much as the super intense action is fun, the reason I got into Invincible in the first place was because it was clever, well written, and often really hilarious. I'd really like to see the book move back in that direction, at least a little.

Can't wait to see what it comes down to. Considering how bloody the fight with Conquest was.

Number 77 reallly surprised me, I did not expect the last part of the comic because of the extremly savage fights of the other numbers.
This one made sense for the vultrumites, thinking only 37 survivors of a species and seeing that what they need is more even if they are half human.

Not quite, imo it's much smarter than most 'fight to the death' type resolutions. I've always found it absurd that two intelligent foes would continue the conflict even though there's mutually assured destruction.
