This is a Geoff Johns written origin story of the Hal Jordan GL. It's a familiar tale, almost as famous to DC fans as the boy from planet Krypton. We do get to see a lot of the 'human element' such as Jordan's relationship with his family, as well as Carol Ferris's with hers. The artwork was Ivan Reis and he is a genius with lines. We also get to see Hal in GL Boot Camp, as well as his first mission with Sinestro as his 'mentor'.

The reason I picked up my copy and re-read it was there is a new version out now with Ryan Reynolds on the cover. There seems to be a difference as my version is 160 pages (nice slickey pages, btw) and the 'movie' version is 190. Maybe some bonus material to tie in to the cinema release.

Here is the movie version:

and it is nicely priced at a little over $9.

And here is the old version, in a hardback and decently priced at just under $15. (that's pretty good for a hardback)

I'd get this book if you like great artwork and/or always wondered why Abin Sur was in a spaceship if he was a lantern.

if Charlie's word is not enough, take mine as well: if you're an old Hal Jordan fan or just plain' interested in a modernized origin of the Silver Age Green Lantern, then look no further !
