Personally, I prefer the more out-there stories like Ubik or Flow My Tears, The Policeman Said. But I think his stories kind of run the game from more traditional sci-fi to the really weird stuff.

i would say read any star wars novel and have a half way decent time. the dark force rising trilogy is probably the most well known.

If you like time travel then I would suggest the Time Riders books by Alex Scarrow, they are young adult fiction but even though I am not that young I still enjoyed reading them.
