Leading on from an IRL discussion - name your FIVE favourite artists & FIVE favourite songs. It has an additional caveat though - are any of them absolutely nailed on & will never change? Definitely a tricky one that had a few people thinking. Tastes change over time but can you honestly say that something will stick with you forever?

I'll lead off with (reds are permanent):

Misfits
Nirvana
Muse
The Prodigy
Carter USM

Bullet - Misfits
Cenotaph - Bolt Thrower
Life on Mars - David Bowie

Hurt - Johnny Cash
A Perfect Circle - Pet

hm.

interesting one.

Elliott Smith
Suzanne Vega

Charlotte Hatherley
Garbage
Placebo

ok, so admittedly I cheated a little - Garbage got a pink because I'm kinda... halfway on that one. absolutely love 'em, and have done for a good 16 years (christ, that makes me feel old...), but... nailed on? never change? too close to call.

Smith and Vega aren't ever gonna drop out of that top five. both are huge influences on my own writing, and I couldn't ever grow tired of listening to their respective bodies of work.

Faster - Manic Street Preachers
Waltz #1 - Elliott Smith
Envy - Ash
Ce que je suis - Holden
Night Vision - Suzanne Vega

this was a little easier, to be fair. because each of these songs is a favourite for a reason. and again, I can't ever imagine myself falling out of love with any of them.

*Led Zeppelin
Nile
Ministry

*Hallowed Be Thy Name - Iron Maiden
*Stairway to Heaven - Led Zeppelin
*Free Bird - Lynyrd Skynyrd
Have You Ever Seen the Rain? - Creedence Clearwater Revival
