I'd say Order of the stick as you can find nice comics there and also more developed stories.

oh man, i have a ton.
my two friends created a couple, one is This Is Not Fiction, and the other was Best Friends Forever. maybe im being biased because theyre friends webcomics but i love them both.
Another good one is Hannah Is Not A Boy's Name. the art is amazing and flows so well with everything, it's inspiring to me.
Also one more, but pretty r-18 with yaoi, is hamletmachine's Star Fighter. Shes just a great artist in general and the plot is very nifty.

As a french reader, my favorite web comic is, and by a large margin, Boulet's blog :

http://www.bouletcorp.com/blog/

Go and check it if you read french and like european (non super-heroes/mutants) comics.

SMBC by a longshot. Garfield without garfield is the most depressing though. :)

In no particular order: xkcd, SMBC, Irregular Webcomic, Questionable Content, Something Positive, Basic Instructions, and Our Valued Customers...these are the ones I read regularly and they're all pretty cool.

A French webcomic by the author of Donjon and Ragnarok. Really funny.

A French webcomic that is also available in English. This webcomic is a mix of images, animation and slideshow, it's called turbomedia.

-Cyanide and Happiness, because of their obsurd hilarity, randomness, and regularity.
-Order of the Stick, nice long plots/stories. And RPG elements.
-Goblins, I like how they keep putting in RPG elements, too
-Non-Adventures of Wonderella, inept superhero that doesn't really care.
-Boxer Hockey, there are some very hilarious moments in this.
-Least I Could Do, it has evolved quite abit since it's beginnings. The weekend comics feel very much like an homage to Calvin and Hobbes

Sluggy Freelance was my first webcomic and a lot of fun.. I haven't been trapped by any others too much lately except for Sequential Art.. I spent most of a day entertained by that.. was hard to go do other things.
