Again... cause I didn't see it and I don't know y'alls rules about bumping old threads...

Favorite Comic Book Games?

Personally... My favorite is Marvel vs. Capcom 2... still over Arkham City...

And the old Punisher arcade game... classic...

How about you?

I really liked Arkham City, and Marvel Ultimate Alliance is a classic. For fighting games, I have to say my favorite is Injustice. I liked MvC3, but it wasn't strictly a superhero game, and it had basically nothing to do but practice and arcade modes. Injustice has a great roster, and great modes like story mode and STAR Lab.

It's funny... I was extremely disappointed with marvel vs capcom 3... Just couldn't get into it... Controls were so loose for my taste and all the characters I wanted to play as we're either shitty or too overpowered... There really wasn't a middle ground

I've only got to seriously play injustice on ios... Been wanting to buy the ps3 version just waiting for money to come back :(

I liked the actual gameplay of MvC3, and I liked the roster. I traded it in after about a month because there just wasn't much to do. I do intend to get Ultimate MvC3 eventually (its getting pretty cheap) but its not a high priority with all the other good games out there.

^ it's a good party game and the roster itself is decent.... Just couldn't get into it... Not saying that marvel vs capcom is suppose to be balanced by any means... It's just either too easy or too convolutedly hard to play.

I don't know if it's fair to count fighting games, if we are though Marvel vs. Capcom 2 for sure, it's in my top 3 fighting games of all time.

The Arkham games are fantastic. The X-Men game for SNES was really fun as well.

Spider-Man 2 on PS2.

It just got everything right. Web lines had to attach to buildings, then you could still angle yourself differently or speed your swing up - even go up and down the line... Amazing Spider-Man changed that to "Hold the swing button and don't worry about it.", which bugs me to this day... The first Spider-Man and the PSOne Spider-Man games did that. The PSOne got a pass - they were cartoon games and actually hilarious.

Back to SM2.

The little Spidey symbols you could collect made Bruce freakin' Campbell talk smack about you, the villains were fun to fight, the storyline was expanded but not in unbelievable ways (something Amazing Spider-Man got right...)... Sure the fighting was repetitive and you hated how many kids lost their balloons, but I still played the game from start to finish no less than ten times.

SM 2 is ok. I liked just swinging around the city, but some of the main missions are super frustrating (like trying to stop Doc Ock's original experiment in the apartment, I must have tried that 20 times befoire just giving up, I still have never gotten past that part).

Maximum Carnage is - IMHO - the best comic-based game of all time.

Though, I can understand why some people would consider the newer games to be better, what with all the technological advancements, and break-throughs in gameplay that we've seen over the past 20 years.

But, let's be honest - this game gets you jacked from the minute you pop the cartridge in.

And then, after all that hot music - you get to play a game that has Carnage in it. Life doesn't get much better than that, my friends.

also - acelister: couldn't agree more with you on the ASM swinging disaster. Once I beat it, it went back on my shelf - which is not something I do with Spider-Man games. I mean, if I own a Spider-Man game...and a console on which to play it...I play the piss out of it. Often. But, I could never get over the web-swinging in ASM. That, and the fact that it was pretty much just a re-packaged version of Web of Shadows that wasn't anywhere near as sweet.

my all time favorite is probably Spider-Man: The Movie (2002) with Spider-Man (2000) coming close second, they had a lot of the stuff modern Spidey games just don't have anymore, like web-attacks (and who can forget the web gloves, impact web and web dome ?)

'Dear Mortal Head of State,
I came here today to explain the true and total consequences of your actions over the last several months. I'm guessing after today that would be unnecessary.
It's not every day that a human finds himself responsible for the death of a god and then on that very same day escapes facing another.
Surely fortune favors you, and the men I spared. Enjoy it.
But before you wash your hands of my father's blood, I would encourage you to reflect on what brought us to this point:
You sacrificed honor for expediency. You traded intent for quick action. You were wrong . . and we all suffered for it.
So do better now mortal man . . for if not I, then surely some god somewhere will someday find you wanting.
It would be a shame to wager your good fortune with folly.

The God of Fear.
Son of War. '
