Just leaked rumour that the Fox execs wanted to start again from scratch after the poor second movie. This would involve paying off the actors (all their contracts were for 3 movies) and going with a new cast.

I've no idea - like I said, it's all just rumours at the minute.

Both films made money but didn't get much love from fans & critics. Word was that the studio wants something less tongue in cheek and more grounded in science.

And when you say tongue and cheek what do you mean? And I thought the Fantastic Four movies were good I loved Rise of the Silver Surfer even though they made Galactus some sort of gas that eats the planets.

Just that the films weren't made as if they were meant to be taken seriously, not a full on comedy but with an "oh well, it's ONLY a superhero movie" type attitude.

So to some F4 and F4: Rise of the Silver Surfer go as good as all The Punisher movies have gone?

Hell no, the FF movies are worse than the Punisher ones.

With Punisher all you need is a guy with big guns killing bad guys. All the movies ticked those boxes, admittedly some better than others.

The FF movies should big cosmic affairs, filled with wonderment. Instead you got a bit of slapstick and Electro in a Dr. Doom suit.

So do you think if they do a reboot it may hurt the F4 movie franchise cause they will need to pay off the contract of the actors who are cast as F4 already?

It all depends how soon they want to make the next movie. I'm pretty sure all actor's contracts with multi-movie options will have a time limit attached to them (Brandon Routh's Superman contract expired last month).

So if they want to make a new movie quickly they will have to pay off the current cast, otherwise they can just wait for the options to expire and start afresh.

Well where I read it the reboot is supposed to be in theaters in sometimes in 2011 but that was probably like a guesstimation.

I think they should keep the actors, they're all decent. It's the scripting that needs looking at. They can easily just bring a more serious tone to the next film with a darker storyline. That's the way forward imo.

Nah, FF shouldn't be dark & gritty. Like I said earlier, FF should be all cosmic adventures & large scale spectacle.

I never said dark and gritty, just not quite so bright and shiny. Maybe have Ben's bit of stuff kidnapped like she normally is and then we immediately get a bit more serious.
