And the world could end tomorrow.

The fact that there is an announced date means there is a commitment to make the movie therefore it's a definite. With DP they're working on a script, that's it.

The release date means that they are committed to releasing, usually financial committed to some degree, it where otherwise it may still be in discussion without any money being involved yet.

So who would make a better F4 cast if the 4 who done it for two movies doesn't get chosen to do the reboot?

I they are rebooting it, does that mean another origin story? Because, by now, anyone who goes to see it should know the FF's origin. I actually liked both movies, although Rise of the Silver Surfer definately had some flaws (Sue was way too whiny, Galactus was a giant cloud of gas, etc.), but that wasn't the actors fault. I think that they casted the earlier movies perfectly, and changing it up would ruin the whole experience for me.

Evans and Chikliss were good in their roles but Alba & Gruffud were pretty poor IMHO.

They won't do another origin. They know that would suck.

Doom was such a joke in the first movie, I hope they do him right or not at all.

How was Mr. Fantastic bad? And I know Alba played a pretty whinhy Sue, but that was more of a bad writing thing.

Been ages since there's been any news on this but finally it looks like it's goiing ahead.

Deadline wrote:
Fox has officially set Chronicle helmer Josh Trank to direct the reboot of Fantastic Four, and the film will be the next Marvel property to be slated for production and dated for release by the studio. Fantastic Four, which will include a new cast, falls into line after The Wolverine sequel that starts production shortly, and the Matthew Vaughn-directed X-Men: First Class, which is also on a fast track. After Trank’s breakthrough with the Fox sleeper hit Chronicle he has been offered everything and attached himself to several projects. But I’m told that Fox expects Fantastic Four to be the next film he directs.

Well lets hope it does good because lets be honest Amazing Spider-man was a bit of a gamble to get rebooted so soon and luckily it worked out. Sometimes a reboot can be even worse then the original no matter how long ago the last film was.

It's been 5 years (and prob be more like 7 before it's released) and FF2 was pretty dire so can't see how a reboot could do any worse.

True so who could be the new FF? I mean they aren't gonna have any of the new cast specially since Chris Evans will be really busy with Captain America not suggesting he should still be Human Torch. But who could be the new FF and who could be Dr. Doom? Also if they do Ben Grimm should they do the actor in a suit or go with CGI route with his look?

there's the possibility that Johnny Storm will be played by Michael B. Jordan (Wallace from The Wire) in the reboot, not sure what to think about it

^ I'm kind of on the fence about this whole movie...

Its obvious Marvel wants Michael in a sad attempt to be hip and urban... But they want to cast Allison Williams to play Sue. Which means they'll break the very laws of genetics... as long as they don't have to cast a black woman to play the lead actress...

Not to mention the script writer's (Seth Grahame-Smith) last two movies were Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter and that gawdawful Dark Shadows reboot...

As excited as I am for a new Fantastic Four movie... I'm not too keen on a reboot. I actually loved Fantastic Four and Rise of the Silver Surfer... Would much rather see that cast return...
