Dear SPACED:
Can we still nominate our choices or are the polls closed? You know if the polls are still open I would nominate the following:
1. Batman: The Cult.
2. Batman: No Man's Land.
3. Superman: Whatever Happend to the Man of Tomorrow?
4. Batman: Hush.
5. Batman: Venom.

I dont know the reason but it seems most of my favourites were Batman graphic novels.

Well...maybe not everyone here.. I don't :P (he/she/it kinda reminds me of Warjacker)

...but I do "hate" Watchmen...so much so that I've never read another Alan Moore title ever again (yes...ever!...well, except TKJ :joker: and that's coz I only found out later that it was the "hairy one" that wrote it)

... and in case some here don't know yet, there are other "ground-breaking", "unusual", "essential" graphic novels out there other than soooooo eighties "Watchmen", might you consider the following (surprisingly not mentioned that often yet):

Mark Millar's The Unfunnies & Chosen
Joe Hill's Locke & Key
Warren Ellis' Planetary & Transmetropolitan

I knew Watchmen was going to win. I've never liked it, I only got through half the graphic novel before almost dying of boredom. About a week ago I borrowed the movie from the public library to see if it was any better than the comic. It wasn't, and my dad and brother didn't like it either.

can i still put mine?
if it's ok, than here it is in no order:

x trilogy (i got hooked on cap here)
hitman (garth ennis at his best. better than preacher)
100 bullets: a foregone tomorrow (this is where i got really into it)
sin city (you just can't beat marv)
nexwave: agent of H.A.T.E. (warren ellis makes sweet fun of superhero art form. i was battling to put this or planetary which i love but fing fang foom, the litle M.O.D.O.K, machine man and the captain just put this one in the bag)

runner up five are definitely
planetary
transmetropolitan
invisibles
chicanos
hellblazer (from son of man to red sepulchre)

urgh, there is just to much good comics...
hungry for more :galactus:

My two cents... (in no particular order):

- Batman Dark Knigth
- Batman Year One (I know it was not originally a GN)
- Watchmen
- Ronin
- Daredevil: Born Again

(don't you see a trend in there...? Miller, someone said Miller?)

Should Batman Year One or Born Again be invalid, I'd add "X-Men: God Loves, Man Kills" and Wolverine's original Mini-Series
