Ok, so I wanna buy me an ebook reader, the only problem is I'm not sure which one to go for...

What I want in a reader:

Touch Screen (preferably)
Wifi (definitely)
Colour(preferably)

And obviously something with big memory or expandable memory.

Can any of you guys give me some pointers?

Oh and one more thing, I would prefer to go into the store (UK) and buy one, I'm not a huge 'net shopper

How much were you willing to spend man? Coz if the range is only a couple of dollars short of an iPad, you shouldn't think twice.

I'm not familiar with many e-readers, but I'd like to get one soon myself.

However, I'd urge you to start being a "net shopper". You can save a ton of money.

Are there any eReaders out there that are good for comics other than the iPad . . . I really don't want to spend 500 bucks just for a larger screen. Reading them on my iPhone is a pain in my ass.

I've seen a colour reader with a 7 inch screen by a company called Binatone for 100 gbp, and it has an image viewer as thats mainly why i want one, for eComics. You could get one with picture viewer/jpeg support and extract the images to a folder e.g Batman #001, and view the 'page' in a slide show of some sort

EDIT: I just found an e-reader called the iriver story that, according to the specs, has a built in comic viewer, in zip format only, there is a link to the site HERE although it is in B&W

Hope this helps

I purchased a cheaper color e-reader before Christmas and returned it. It was called a "LookBook". I used a software called "calibre" to convert and transfer .cbr to the e-book. The e-reader was slow and I had some difficulty with the settings of calibre so the pages were cut off. I decided to return it the following day and that morning it wouldn't turn on. Sometimes you get what you pay for. I will stay away from cheap color e-book readers.
Other than the Ipad I think the NookColor might be a good choice. I don't think it supports .cbr/.cbz natively but I know its sold well over the holiday and they are upgrading the android os. A lot of people want B&N to open up the software and allow the NookColor to became a tablet instead of just a e-reader. If they do that there are android programs that support .cbr/.cbz. If you don't want to wait for a software upgrade, calibre will convert .cbr/.cbz to .pdf. Reviews say the screen is great and it has a decent cpu. The last time I looked it was being sold for $250.
I hope that helps.

Well I finally settled for the Samsung E60, it has built in image viewer for unpackaged comics, but you can also convert cbr's into epub or w/e format you prefer to view on it but you have to go into x2.0 zoom

Most e-readers are made for reading books, not comics. I have tried some of them (owned by friends of mine) but only iPad is comfortable enough to read more than a few pages at a time. Of course there are some new tablets like Motorola Xoom coming out soon and these may be a good solution too although I think their price may higher than iPad. All in all, the bigger screen the better if you value your eyes.

I just don't get it:

the top tech firms can make a cellphone that also functions as a portable media player and a mostly functional computer.

you'd think developing a reasonably priced, color capable E-Reader shouldn't be impossible by compression.
