My apologies if this should have been posted somewhere else. Or has already been posted. I'm a Dogpound ex-pat, and still trying to find my way around here.

I binge-read the storyline (thanks, Winston!), and thought it held together nicely. A good story, a few very effective passages, and it wasn't dragged out over a dozen issues. Not exactly subtle on the political point it wanted to make, but that didn't overpower the story. And hell, has Captain America ever been a subtle book?

(Sorry, Steve: I meant "heck.")

Thanks for your post. It made me go read the issues too and I am not sorry I did.

I really liked the first couple of issues. Cap saving small american towns works very well. Even the third issue worked well with the line "who is he?" "Does it matter?".

But I'm afraid I found the last issues ... rushed? ... cliched? ... (I want to say not believable and not credible but unbelievable and incredible sound like compliments). Yes Cap's character was good and strong in them but I kept waiting for
Spoiler: show
him to wake up and it all be a dream, or a trick or something so that all his fighting was actually helping the real mastermind behind the plot ... but he didn't. Apparently it was real, or as real as a now alternative future that never happened can be in comics.

So yes the writing of Cap himself was excellent but the plot ... well ... I think Mark Waid has done better and is currently doing better over in Avengers.
