Hi All,

I've been out of the comic book world for a while now and have recently found myself with enough time to catch up. Although I enjoy Marvel/DC/Dark Horse output, and my recent discovery of GIRLS by The Luna Brothers has been a highlight of this year, I am a huge fan of the Sin City graphic novels.

I'd like to read more Crime Noir graphic novels/comics and would love your recommendations.

Thanks

An off beat suggestion.

Green Wake - Blends philosophy and existential questions about life with class hard-boiled noir. Unfortunately the series was cut due to lack of sales but it's a real treat.

I'd also suggest another weird one, Neil Gaiman's Murder Mysteries.

I 2nd the Ms.Tree. It's one of my favorite comics ever and by far the best crime based comic I've ever read.

Might have been easier just to point him in the direction of this thread: pre-batman-detective-comics-t18161.html since it did end up basically being a thread about crime noir comic books.

A friend of mine that's really into crime/mystery comics gave me Goldfish(Image 2001) by Bendis for Christmas.
I've only read about a dozen pages but it looks good so far.

Black Beetle (DHP) looked really cool if you're into retro style "Mystery Men" type stories.

Black Beetle #0 was alright, I enjoyed it for sure but it's def not what I think of when I think Crime Noir. It's more along the lines of something like The Shadow or Spider.

The Crow is supposed to be coming out with a new series. I remember the old one being a little Sin City-ish.

Scalped is probably a good example of modern crime noir fiction.

I just read The Rinse , a 4 issue mini by Boom.
The main character makes his living laundering other peoples money and he has taken up a client that has ripped off a Vegas mobster.
Pretty good read .

+1 for The Rinse. Passed me by initially but decided to try it after reading the preview pages in one of the other BOOM! books. Unfortunately I'm having a hell of a time tracking down #4 as my LCS sold out for some bizarre reason (#1-3 on the shelf, no #4).

+1 for Scalped.
I've also read 100 Bullets but it's more of a crime/thriller book. It just lacks these long monologues that I loved in Sin City.
I'm at Scalped #7 and if the tone, characters and badassery stays like this, it's gonna be a new fovourite of mine.
