why on the avx #8 variant, is cyclopes have the cap's shield? thanx

No story driven reason, and certainly nothing specific within the issue. I guess it is just artistic licence to suggest the upper hand in power that the Phoenix five have over the Avengers.

Notice that Cyke also carries Mjolnir in the other hand.

Apparently they can't. Also, from that list, Secret Six was amazing, and REBELS was very good. I can understand REBELS numbers, it was very good but I was surprised it lasted as long as it did, but I'm surprised Daredevil has almost matched Secret Six after only 18 issues (SS had 35, I think, and if DD keeps going they way its going, it will beat SS's numbers by the time it gets to 35. Secret six was a great book, that got cancelled and replaced by a mediocre book.

I like AvX more than a lot of people here, but I still don't think its amazing, and its quality y doesn't deserve those numbers, especially when there are great books out there that deserve a look.

In regards to those sales numbers. Do those numbers represent sales to the consumer or sales to the retailers?

Sales to retailers only. There's no system set up (and I doubt there ever will be) to track actual sales to customers.

Who would want to admit buying 200 copies of anything just to sell one variant cover?

But even if such a system existed, it surely couldn't track back issue sales. My LCBS buys in an extra of most books just to put it in the back issue long boxes.

I guess all those books also have trades people buy, so that should also be counted..
While I write this I realize the AvX trades will probably oversell these buy the same ratio...
This is a little sad, but as long as they keep putting x-factor out, I can't complain (well, I can - DnA's cosmic line, R.E.B.E.L.S. and so on.. but there's no point to it).

So retailers are in part to blame for great lesser known comics having crappy sales numbers.
They just don't want to take a chance .

When I was collecting R.E.B.E.L.S. for a bout six months my LCS wouldn't have a copy for me in my bin and there wouldn't be any issues on the shelves when I went in so I'd have to wait a week or two longer to get my copy.
That was until a guy there realized that they had 4 subscribers for the series and they only ordered 3 issues so he said he'd up their order by one.
When I asked why he didn't get some extra for the shelf he said "It won't sell"
Sadly this guy owns the only two comic shops in this city that I know of.

I just can't put into words how I feel about the ending to this one...

Spoiler: show
"No more Phoenix". Really? That's it? Why didn't they just do that 12 issues ago?

I just read it myself . One thing I don't get is
Spoiler: show
why all this emphasis on Hope needing to train in K'un L'un when she just had to use her mutant powers to help save the day?
Is Iceman dead ? In one panel it looked like Cyclops blew out a big chunk of his mid section.(while choking the Red Hulk who for some reason makes me think of Bart Simpson.)

WTF is going on?!?!!

Spoiler: show
Why is Nova even in this comic? Is it even Richard Ryder? Thanos Imperative and a lot of the space stuff starting with Annihilation are some of the best story arcs I've read. If they just bring Nova back without a good reason and the power set he was before I'm going to be upset.

That Nova was featured in the Avengers vs X-Men Infinite comics and Marvel Point One. . He's Sam Alexander.. don't know anything else about, except I think he's in the new Spider-Man cartoon also..

So, it looks like mutants as an endangered species is at an end (which I'm actually happy about, the endangered species thing has gone on long enough). Cyclops has been captured, and the only remorse he shows is from killing Xavier, he makes some idiotic comment about the phoenix causing destruction to create stuff or something like that. Emma frost, Namor, Colossus, Magik and Magneto are wanted criminals (I think they're the only mutants being brought to justice, the first four for obvious reasons, magneto probably because Cyclops was the guy keeping others from putting him away). I wonder if they'll be a focus of one of the avengers books, or if they;'ll be addressed in the AvX aftermath one shot coming out.

I actually thought the event was ok. Better than Fear itself or Dark Reign, and it atleast reversed the "no more mutants" thing from House of M. Thats not to say it was great, but it wasn't terrible. I am dreading Avengers arena, and I'm pissed that Avengers academy is getting cancelled for it, but several of the upcoming books from Marvel NOW look interesting, so overall I'm somewhat excited to see what comes next, now that AvX is over.
