I say this on SFX and was quite intrigued...

TV’s New Green Arrow Cast

Stephen Amell will play the superhero archer in the CW pilot
US network The CW is forging ahead with it pilot for a Green Arrow TV series, called simply Arrow, with the announcement that the show has found the man to fill the emerald outfit.

According to Deadline, The new small screen Green Arrow/Oliver Queen will be Canadian-born Stephen Amell, whose credits include recurring guest roles on shows like Private Practice (in which he played Scott Becker), Hung (Jason), The Vampire Diaries (werewolf Brady) and the US Queer As Folk (spinning instructor). He was also on the shortlist for taking over the lead role in Spartacus following Andy Whitfield’s tragic departure, though that role ultimately went to Liam McIntyre.

The Green Arrow was previously seen on a CW show in Smallville, where he was played by Justin Hartley. The new show is also rumoured to feature Black Canary, another DC superhero.
------
There are a few other articles on this out there. Not sure when it is scheduled to air, sometimes these pilots never see the light of day, but could be interesting. I did quite like Justin Hartley though he always seemed too pretty boy for me originally, but this new guy could be just right for an edgier slightly more grown up version of the character. Hopefully they get the relationship between him and Canary right this time

Haven't seen a release date yet but this is what he'll look like:

David Nutter, producer/director wrote:
“When I directed the pilot for Smallville, I knew that making Clark Kent relatable would be the key to audiences believing in him as a hero. Arrow is a different show — darker and harder-edged — but it’s the same core idea. We’re creating a real, believable world in which Oliver Queen can do incredible things. [Costume designer] Colleen Atwood’s great work on the Arrow costume reflects that effort.”

Hmm....interesting. I used to watch Smallville when I was younger, however...as time passed - it was slowly yet surely becoming more and more repetitive and less enjoyable to watch. Hopefully, this show can become great...and stay that way. :nightwing:

uninterested. I watched Smallville, so seeing someone else as Green Arrow so soon after that series ended is.. meh. Wonder if this'll actually go anywhere, or if it'll go the way of the Aquaman tv series.

It's been picked up for a full series:

Deadline wrote:
The CW has made five new drama series pickups, with all early standouts making the cut. That includes the Sex And The City prequel The Carrie Diaries, the Green Arrow-themed Arrow, the contemporary reboot of the 1980s series Beauty and the Beast, mystery Cult and medical drama First Cut starring Mamie Gummer.

Based on characters appearing in comic books and graphic novels published by DC Comics, Arrow is executive produced by Greg Berlanti, Marc Guggenheim, Andrew Kreisberg and David Nutter. Melissa Kellner Berman is co-exec producer. The pilot was directed by David Nutter from a script by Kreisberg & Guggenheim, story by Berlanti & Guggenheim. Beauty And The Beast is exec produced by Jennifer Levin, Sherri Cooper, Bill Haber, Paul J. Witt & Tony Thomas, Ron Koslow and the pilot’s director Gary Fleder.

Interesting, I hope it's gonna be good =) I only ever watched Smallville whe I was waiting for Supernatural to start but I never found it all that fascinating. Since I really like darker shows I'm definitely giving it a shot =)

Ahh beat me to it, I was just about to post that clip. It doesn't give much away, but looks gritty enough as was suggested. Hope it turns out to be good but not that long to wait, Should be out in September I reckon with the Fall series premieres.

I don't know if you all know (or are interested in other forms of Green Arrow media) but it looks like the American television company CW will be releasing a new show called "Arrow" and it'll be a television version of Green Arrow's tale. I don't know much more about it, came across it sideways. So keep your eyes peeled if you're interested.

Full trailer for the show. Looks like it's going to be lots of vigilante heroics & conspiracy theories based on what's in here.

Looks interesting but I'm hoping they will throw in a big bit of character developing cause currently it looks a bit bland and generic. I'm definitely gonna give it a try =)

The trailer looks interesting. I hope they don't do what they did to Smallville to this series...Smallville lost me after Season 6 :bat:
