PAD seems to have a knack for taking second-string (but no-less valuable) characters and making them engaging. I'm interested to see what he does with this group.

^Ditto but I'm finding it hard to get interested in the corporate superhero angle. The stakes just aren't as engaging as the detective agency days but hey, it's still early days.

Don't forget, David's first run on X-factor set them as a government sponsored mutant relations and response team, long before he had Madrox build his PI business under the name. And the "corporate-sponsored super-team" is hardly new territory. It's been done well and it's been done really really poorly.
The real question here is how David will spin it.
If he maintains his standard level of quality, I believe it'll keep our interest.

PAD's always been my favorite writer. Consistently funny and insightful into the characters he's writing.
